GrassRoots United
GrassRoots United works at the forefront of disaster relief in bringing communities, individuals and organizations together to ensure that the best approaches to sustainable living are achieved. We build critical relationships between local communities and relief organizations, creating strong foundations through which relief workers can pool specialized resources and deliver them to where they are most needed and therefore most effective.
Resource Center
At our Resource Center in Port-au-Prince we offer living, storage, and workshop space; as well as access to our conference room for vocational trainings. In addition, with our many on-site partner organizations there is a great opportunity for groups to collaborate with each other and the community.
Volunteer Program
Local volunteers thrive with the trainings and partnerships that GrassRoots fosters. These talented young men and women need a strong collaborative environment. By asking what a local community needs and collaborating on solutions, community involvement becomes far more effective than telling people what their needs are.

Medical Program
Our medical warehouse provides free supplies to local clinics and hospitals. GRU's extensive medical contacts allow us to get medicines to where they are most needed. Airborne patient and medicine transfers, Haitian clinic assessments, CTC setup and logistics are just some of the ways that we leverage our connectivity in the medical community.
Orphanage Program
Deworming and providing sanitation education to vulnerable children. GrassRoots works with over 80 vetted orphanages in Haiti, providing connections to their needs. With the strength of our partnerships, our orphanage program receives in-kind donations of critical supplies regularly, and offers this connectivity to our partners.
Logistics Program
Getting partners what they need; allowing them to focus on their projects. We provide guidance in navigating the rather complex environment of disaster zones.
In other words; having the right item, in the right quantity, at the right time, at the right place, for the right price, in the right condition, to the right partner organization.
Alternative Building Program
Sharing technology with the local community, GrassRoots brings ideas and approaches to alternative architecture. We showcase and test designs that use in country renewable or re-usable materials. With the variety of on site structures, our Resource Center allows visitors to compare and contrast ideas and discuss how they are received by the local community. Partners in the showcase benefit from our material sourcing and support in staging and executing the projects.
