GRU Resource Center

GRU works towards filling the gaps in disaster relief and development work. Working this way means we are able to react quickly to needs that arise in a country affected by a natural disaster. What became obvious early on in our Haiti deployment was the need for a resource center. This resource center is not just for GRUʼs benefit but for all organizations and communities we interact with, whether they are already working in Haiti or are looking to come and work over here. Once GRU identified this need, we have worked hard towards providing such a space.

At our Resource Center in Port-au-Prince we are able to offer living and storage space as well as access to our Conference & Training room which can also be used for vocational training. On-site we have a workshop space complete with mechanics pit and a substantial tool shed, which is set up for our tool sharing program. Our community workspace provides Haitian organizations, the local community, and our international partners a space to work on projects. For off-site projects our partners are encouraged to borrow from our extensive tool crib and knowledge base to get projects completed, and their vision achieved. It can be very difficult and expensive for groups to have tools and work space in Haiti. We provide it as part of our Resource Center. By constantly having partners and community members on-site a rich collaborative environment is formed.
